Taking Care Of Little Me

Lately I have been asked what is the best way to take care of my little girls hair. My daughters will cry every time it is hair care time. They always say my head hurts.
Of course they are if hair care was anything like it was when I was coming up. The toughing and pulling on their poor dry hair, it is close to child abuse. Remember taking care of their natural hair is really no difference in what you do with your own natural hair. You want to be just as gentle as you are with your own hair. You would want to stay away from things like this:
hot comb
Just because you are having a hard time with their hair, is that your daughter’s problem or your’s? I think it is it is your problem. It is your problem to learn the information needed to take care of your little ones hair just as you did when it came to learning how to change diapers, what to feed her and how to bath her.
Who thinks that it is ok to perm a 3 or 4yr old hair? Do you know how damaging that is to her follicles? And why? All because you didn’t want to take the time out of your day to be gentle on her hair. Because you don’t want your little girl to be a little girl, she needs to grow up fast and your eyes.
This is my plan for you, those that have been asking me what should you do.
  • Tools, spray bottle, conditioner (Tresemme Naturals, Kinky Curly Knot Today) Oil (Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil or Coconut Oil) clips, wide tooth comb, silk or satin bonnet.
  • Condition wash their hair, you will use conditioner in place of shampoo. Finger detangle their hair while the conditioner is still in their hair. Use the comb if you have to but try not to and never comb their hair while it is dry.
  • Rinse their hair and T-shirt dry their hair and then take the hair and section it off and clip it up. Start with one section and put a quarter size of the conditioner and put it in that first section and with the spray bottle you want to put water in it because you don’t want the hair to dry out while you are working on it. On that same section take a dime size of oil and apply to the ends first to lock in that moisture. Twist that section and clip it up until you have finish the whole head.
  • You can then start to style their hair. I always love two strand twist or braids but just remember not to pull their hair tight.
  •  At night you will spray their hair and oil it and place the bonnet over their hair for the night.
So this is my take on how to keep their hair painless for them and to help their hair stay healthy and grow.  I really hope this was helpful.
Ladies love your hair and your little one’s hair and it will love you back.
As always thanks for reading, peace and love!!!!!!
