Keeping Track

The one thing that is a very important step in your regiment is to keep track or a log of what you are doing to your hair. You don't want to become lazy and forget to feed your hair. I know sometimes I go without feeding my body, I know, don't know how I do it but I do. Just think if this was to happen all the time, what would happen to me?

I try to write things down on my calendar to remind me to deep condition or to henna. Especially henna because it is only done once a month.

The other tool that will help you with your journey is a Hair Journal on paper or visual. For me I find that a visual journal is better for me. I do write things down but mostly keep them on the calendar but on my computer I keep a folder of my hair growth pictures.

As well as being able to see the difference it will also make you feel better about yourself on those days when it seem like nothing is going right. Some times when you measure your hair the numbers do not add up to what you see your hair doing. That can become very frustrating, so say to yourself but I see it's growing and these numbers are still the same. That really eats me up.Once you take those pictures out and put them side by side you will start smiling because the proof is in the pudding.

Make sure that you have something to look back on in 6 months and even the next year. I could not believe the difference from last year to this year with my hair growth. I could not stop looking at the pictures... lol

So clarifying and henna treatments you want to keep a eye on those treatments because if you do them too much it can cause damage to your hair even though it is something that is good for your hair.

So ladies I hope this was a little pick me up lol and remember to love your hair and it will love you back.

Let's Give It Another Try

Everyone is giving their stamp of approval for the new kid on the block. I have tried it with several hair types and I can not say that it worked over all for 2 out of the 4 hair types I used it on my hair and it works great, after washing or co washing my hair I take a nickel size of Tresemme Natural conditioner and put in my hair as a leave in and then apply the custard threw out my hair making sure I smooth the ends real good. Once it dried I fluff my curls and they were left soft and bouncy.

As you can see it has a creamy texture kinda remind you of conditioner.

Even if I am trying to hide my ends I like for my hair to be curly before I put it up. So if it is too hot after my hair dries I can put my nice soft bouncy curls up with a scrunchy and let it down again at night. I guess my 3 jars will not go to waste.

Ladies as I always say, love your hair and it will love you back.

Pre Poo OR Deep Conditioner

Henna was on my mind but better thought to do a deep conditioner with something that I would use as a pre poo. What I did was put the conditioner in the mix instead of more oil.

This is what I did,

Eye ball Shea Butter melted
Squirt of the Honey
Enough conditioner to cover hair

After shea butter is melted mix the other ingredients and apply to hair sections at a time. Do the down stroke method and concentrate on the ends smooth them real good. I continued this method until my whole head was done. Place plastic cap over head and let sit for 3 hrs. I rinsed with cool water for about 3 mins.

This morning I have very very soft hair. I really think the key is rubbing the product down the strands and smoothing out the ends and  because my hair is thin I didn't have to mix a lot.

I hope you enjoy. Ladies you really have to love your hair and it will love you back.

Glycerin

After looking all over the store for 100% vegetable Glycerin I just decided to order it online. Years ago I would put this in a spray bottle and add water to it and that would be my moisturizer. Forgot all about it until I was looking to reorder some Aloe Vera juice. So I am mixing the Glycerin and the Aloe Vera juice together and using that as my moisturizer instead of the water. I love it just the same and there is something about Aloe Vera juice on the hair, it is wonderful and if you drink it even better.

This deal I could not keep it all to myself. Swanson Vitamins has a shipping fee of $4.99 no matter how many items you buy.

Love your hair and it will love you back.

The Strand Test

For sometime now my hair has been doing all this shedding with lots of frizz going on. At first I couldn't figure it out. We all know by now the importance of moisture and protein balance? But since my hair is protein sensitive it is hard for me to know. So I'm on the computer all on You Tube looking at everybody videos trying to find the answer. One was like do the strand test, just take one of your hair's that fell out and put it in water and if it sank , Oh wait that was for porosity.
So let's start all over again and what did they say now? Oh yeah, take a strand and pull on each end and if it pop instead of stretching you need protein. Mines popped right away, man. So I ran in the kitchen and got the egg, mayo and yogurt with a dash of honey. Got that all on my head and put a cap on it and let it sit for a while. So I decided to do a double take on the videos and found out I had it all backwards lol. Braking means needing moisture and stretching too long means protein. So I washed the protein out and did me a deep conditioner for a very long time. LOL man that was a crazy night.

Come to find out that I just really needed my ends trimmed. I tell you there is nothing like some freshly cut ends, my curls were popping. and I was so in love all over again. Watch I forget again.....

Love your hair and it will love you back.

Childhood Friend Wanted No One But ME!!!!

To start her hair journey she wanted no one but me to hold her hand down that road. What was so great about this journey is that her hair was already natural and just above her bra strap. The thing that she was lacking was how to manage and make her curls pop. So this is the first week of taming her hair. I am showing you this one because I wanted you to see what a difference co-washing makes. I love when a plan comes together.

First visit her hair was clarified and chelating before henna was applied. Although she didn't have a lot of grey hair I also use henna for scalp problems. Nurpur has not failed me yet in clearing up Dandruff or other irritated scalp problems.

So what happen the next week you ask? Her scalp was clear and her hair was softer. Her curls were more defined but nothing could beat what happen after I pre poo with first massaging her scalp with my castor oil mix and then applying olive oil and put her under a plastic cap until I shampooed and deep conditioned.
I used Let's Jam Custard on her hair once it was
rinse.

And this is what it looks like now. I think it really turned out nice. The curls pop just like they should. Her job when she is home is just to co-wash and that is it. I really can not wait to see what it will look like this weekend coming. I really think that co-washing is the key to taming your curls.

Love your hair and it will love your back.
