Product JUNKIES

We all talk about being a product junkie and how we can not help ourselves. When do we consider ourselves not one anymore? I know for myself I have cut down a lot from the products that I buy and use on my hair. I mean just take a look into my cabinet. I have a lot of things but it is the same kind of thing now.

Of course there are still things in the bathroom like my shampoo and conditioner and also the curly products that I am using now mixed chicks and alterna which stays in the bathroom because I use them everyday. Only the unused containers are in the cabinet.

My henna I keep in the kitchen pantry so that is why it does not show up in this cabinet. My dad told me this was an old Whiskey cabinet, lol. I mean just look at how nice it looks close.

I have placed it right in front of my bed so that I can look at it as I get ready for bed and as I just lay there.

Well I think it is as much as important that you love the products that you hold on to as well as you love the place you keep them in. I know I can become quite depress if I have to look at a place or go to a place to get something and the place is not so nice and it is nasty looking or just not classy looking. Who wants their products to become a eye sore? And on top of that those places where you have to dig for everything and take every little thing out to find what you are looking for...oh and how about this one, you go out and buy something because you couldn't find what you were looking for in the junk pile but you knew you had it in there. Come home from the store and it hits you right in your face, all because you didn't have your products stacked in a nice place where you could see each and every thing.

Ok enough of my rambles today. I just wanted to share what makes me feel better about having a lot of hair products. lol

Ladies love your hair and their products and your hair will love you back.

What A Sunny Day

Man I wish I could show you the sun that is shinning through this window, it is very beautiful how it bounces off the mirror and green leaves of the plants. The only reason why I end up noticing the sun in the first place is because it was henna day and I was looking at my hair and the light started causing my color to glow. It was something that brought back memories from when I was younger and applied henna to my hair. The only time you could see the color was in the sunlight. No other color has ever caught my heart like henna red. At times I long for my grey, I jump back and forth between the thought of growing the grey out or not but for now henna red it is.

Now lets move on to one of my family members that is working on her healthy natural hair growth. So the start of this month her journal began.

First thing I am about to show you is the problem in her scalp she had for years, she says as long as she could remember this was a problem for her and her siblings. We started off with cutting off her damage hair and decided on the henna treatment beginning with every two weeks.

The circles are showing some of the red bumps on her scalp. There was a lot of flaking and itching with hair lost. She was sent home with instructions on co-washings and scalp massaging with the oils I sent home.

Look at her first two weeks!!!

Can you see how clear her scalp is? She said she could not believe it herself. She wants to see if it will help her brother that has tried everything. Health first, right? Then we will work on length.

Even though she is the newest of the group I thought at this time she was the most interesting with the biggest problem. I will measure her length next visit which will be in inches because that is about how much is left on her head, LOL....

Ladies proof, love your hair and it will love you back!

Ouidad Review

It was lovely to received samples of this product.
I was sent the Climate Control Defrizzing Shampoo, Conditioner and Leave in.
I have to say that it is a pretty nice product. I used it on 3 different hair types with using all 3 products on each. The shampoo was a very nice, cleaning and with lather. Not much needed to be done because only one wash and their hair was clean. Oh and let me tell you about the conditioner.... it smelled so so good, we just kept putting our hands to our nose lol it was so funny. My cousin said "let me smell your hand again.... lol".
The leave-in just made their curls pop. Besides putting a little JoJoba oil on top of the curls nothing else was needed.
It is nice to see that this product is versatile because there are a lot of products out there that are not and a lot of curlies have to find out the hard way. A lot of money down the toilet too which is so sad. Please ladies if you get a chance check out ouidad.com to find which line of products fits your curls.

Thoughts Here and There

As my hair grows the curls start to spiral, which is very nice. Running your hands down the hair from root to ends does wonders to the over all shine and health of the hair. It seem to come to life, with more bounce and more of a glow. There is also a difference in using the Nupur Henna than the plain Henna I was using previously.

Each year that goes by is a different learning experience. The hair will tell you what it like and don't like. When it is not loving what you are doing your hair will cry out to you with the breaking and the brittleness and all other kinds of things it is trying to tell you, "save me!!!".

Once you start to listen to your hair a peacefulness will come over the hair which will  start showing you that it is in love with what you are doing. The end result will be healthy ends that shine.

More Family

More and more family members are taking the leap into the natural pool. All thought weave have been their life for so many years, Riding up on 40 has cleared away the clouds which was not allowing them to see or listen to their hair. Cry's were unheard and so the suffering went on for years and  their hair attacked back with hatred. Even though it will be like weening yourself off any other bad habit, it should be so enjoyable once they embrace and love their hair. Confidence will become your true name because you will learn that you are beautiful and start owning it.

Love your hair and it will love your back.

This Year Regimen

I think I told you this already and I am not sure if it will fit with new this year or not but here it goes.

I am back to wash n go's because that is what works for me and my hair is still growing with this style.

Still using Mixed Chicks line of products which works best for my hair and Hairveda Whipped Ends Hydration.

The oils on my list, JBCO; Jojoba; Vatika; Argan which are used on my scalp and hair at night before I tie my hair up for the night because I co wash everyday. I pick and choose which one will be used that night. Picked and used for my massage on my scalp.

So what is different you say? I am no longer plaiting my hair at night. What I found out about trying to plait my curls every night was it was too much manipulation on my ends because I had to pull my curls apart to plait the hair. Trying to hide my ends was killing my ends and that meant cutting the damage I had done. This is what I had to figure out on my own, split ends every single month that was crazy.

Now I pull my hair up at night either in a pineapple or just take my sleeping cap and pull it over my head to my neck and pull it back up to bring my hair up on top of my head and tie the cap up.

Next day co wash with Tresemme Curl Moisturizing conditioner and with the last wash, it is done with Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner and left in until my shower is finish.

After all that is done some days I apply the Hairveda as my leave in under the Mixed Chicks leave in and then it is applied to my wet hair and fingered in very well to make sure every hair is touched. Once it is almost air-dried I apply Alterna Bamboo Smooth Frizz  Correcting Styling Lotion and kinda rake and shake it at that point, no more hands and let it dry. I get more volume by doing this and no frizz what so ever.

Starting the New Year Hair Length

Beginning of the year is off to a great start with Bottom of Shoulder Blade length hair, YEPPIE!! But it will never be the fly in the wind hair.
Because I am so not going to straighten my hair.

Besides my husband stating he can not stand my hair straight, I just do not want to take the chance of damaging my curls just to check my length. Using the conditioner and pulling on the length works just fine.

I have seen a lot of the ladies at this point reach waist length within a year, I really hope that is me.

Ladies I am telling you, love your hair and it will love you back.
