Talk About Making a Difference !!!!!!!

Since the beginning of the year I have been taking care of my mother and daughter's natural hair and showing them how they can have nice curly hair. It also gave me the chance to see what worked on which texture hair. This first picture is of my mother's hair when I first started with her henna treatments and showing her how to condition wash her hair. I was also using Bhringraj powder for thickness.

This the beginning of my daughter's journey as well. For the both of them I would do a apple cider vinergar rinse which would remove any build up as well and restore their ph balance. My daughter never thought her hair would curl because the products we started out with did not work for her even though they worked well for my mother and I. My mother and I hair is just about the same texture. We could use mixed chicks or gel and would be fine. My daughter learned that she could use the curly girl method and just leave in conditioner in her dripping wet hair and allowing it to air dry. We all use the no comb method.

And this is what their hair looks like to this date. My daughter is still using the conditioner for her wash n go and my mother uses mixed chicks and love it.

As always thanks for reading, peace and love!!!!!!!

  1. How often are you doing the henna treatments on your mother's hair?

  3. assalamu-alaikum, I wanted to get more info on the vinegar rinse. My hubby doesn't want me to cut my hair but I would like to go natural. I notice that I can use Mixed Chicks with my hair and air dry. I love the natural look. Please advise.

  4. wa alaikum salaam with the vinegar rinse you would put like a tablespoon of vinegar to maybe 1.5 cups of water and that would be your last rinse and you don't have to rinse that out of your hair. it is really like doing a clarifying for your hair. it will take all the build up off your hair. if you are transitioning you really need to baby your ends. make sure that you keep them moist and finger detangle as much as possible.
but the vinegar rinse really makes your hair feel very soft.

  5. assalamu-alaikum, ok, what can I use to get the moisture for my ends? I don't know much about taking care of hair and I HAve three daughters ma'shaa-Allah. I need a lot of advise. I originally bought the Mixed Chicks for my oldest that has curly and soft hair ma'sha-Allah. It did not work. It drew her hair up and it was dull. NO bounce or nothing. But it works well with my relaxed hair. Any suggestions? jazakallahu khair for your time sis. OH, I love your new night cap, I need four of them for my girls and myself.

  6. wa alaikum salaam wa rahmatullah sis

the moisture, you will need to find a good leave in conditioner whether it is creamy or liquid it is up to you. Or if you have a good moisturizing conditioner leave some of that in the hair or mix a little with water and put it in the hair and make sure that you pull it all the way through the hair with your fingers to the ends of the hair. after you do that continue with the styling of the hair so you would use olive oil right from the kitchen or coconut oil or castor oil to seal in the moisture you can even use shea butter.

Now with the mix chicks I find that it works really well for me you have to scrunch up the hair in your hand and then you let it dry do not touch it until it dries and then smooth the crunch out with your hands and I end up with bouncy curls. Have you watch the video they have on their site?

Wa iyaaki I love that new sleeping cap it is a little pricey but I think it is worth it. But if you sew you can make it too you just have to make sure you find the right fabric or it will not be good for your hair.
I hope I helped insha Allah.

Yes, I watched the videos and reviews before I decided to go with them. I was looking around to find something for my daughter so that she can have her hair out. She's going on 8 now ma'shaa-Allah and wants to have her hair out now.I found that it is best for her to do the braid out method. I make sure to condition her hair and add either cococut oil or olive hair to the hair and scalp. I am looking into doing henna for the hair, I found out that it is good for the hair. Jazakallahu khair for the naseeha
BTW, I am Umm Yasmeen Shakirah, smile
    May Allah heal you, ameen

    1. wa alaikum salaam I really can't wait either lol. But you will have to have patience with this one. and realize that we get 1/4 to 1/2 inch a month and drinking plenty of water and even taking a good vitamin with a good healthy diet will not hurt insha Allah. We have to make sure that your hair is not breaking on the ends as it is growing in from the roots. Lets keep those ends hidden and moist. For the average healthy headed person I have seen them grow their hair from twa to mid back or waist length in about 4 yrs. In a yr I would say look for shoulder length insha Allah if all goes well.
